Marvel movies: what to look forward to in 2019

It's been a bittersweet year for Marvel. On one hand the franchise enjoyed more huge success at the box office with movies such as Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther. However, this year also saw the passing of Marvel founder and comic book godfather Stan Lee. Lee was 94 and was famed in his later years for his cameos in many Marvel movies and in fact had a few in the can before his recent death, so Marvel fans will get a glimpse of their hero a few more times.

With that, Marvel fans are looking ahead to 2019 to see what new offerings are in store and there are few highly anticipated releases. Here are a few of the 2019 highlights fans can look forward to.

Avengers 4

Due for release in early May, this fourth installment in the Avengers saga has yet to be given a title. It is a sequel to Infinity War and was actually filmed around the same time, however directors are remaining tight lipped as to what fans can expect.

Captain Marvel

Brie Larson stars as Carol Danvers in this eagerly awaited female-led superhero flick. When Earth is caught in the midst of an intergalactic war, Danvers emerges one of the most powerful people in the world. With aliens and non-stop action, Gemma Chan and Jude Law also starring, this is sure to be another box office hit.

Spider-Man Far From Home

A follow-up to the well received Spider-Man: Homecoming, this sees Tom Holland once again reprise the title role while Jake Gyllenhaal is one of those rumored for a villain role.
